Australian Design Rules - Suspension (less than 4.5 tonne)
Within a group of axle:
- two axle must not be more than 2 metres apart
- three axle must not be more than 3.2 metres apart
All axle in a group must be interconnected by a loadsharing suspension except in a close coupled axle group, provided that the load carrying capacity of each axle in the group and the wheels and tyres fitted to it is:
- at least 120% of the load on that axle with the trailer at its atm; and
- at least equal to the load on that axle with the trailer at its ATM and any retractable axle

Braking
- Trailers up to 750kg ross trailer mass - no brakes required
- Trailers 750 kg up to 2000kg gross trailer mass - brakes on at least 1 axle (mechanical trailer brakes - electric brakes - power assisted brakes acceptable)
- Trailers 2000kg to 4500kg gross trailer mass - brakes on all wheels. Independent brakes (mechanical trailer brakes - electric / power assisted with control from drivers seat) with brake-away system to automatically apply trailer brakes fully for at least 15 minutes
- Trailers above 4500kg gross trailer mass - Brakes on all wheels - refer to ADR 38

Bearings comprise of two parts, the cup which is pressed into the hub and the cone, this is the part that contains the rollers of the bearing. Bearings should always be replaced in a set, that is the cup and the cone together.
In a bearing combination in a hub, the bearing on the inside of the hub flange (the side closest to the centre of the trailer) is called the inner bearing. The bearing to the outside is called the outer bearing.

Jockey Wheels with and without clamp - General Purpose, suitable for most domestic / leisure trailer applications
Jockey Wheel with locking pin swivel bracket (SLS and SL) - Ease of use. No need to remove it from the trailer. Just pull the release handle and rotate to traveling position.
Adjustable locking pins swivel bracket
Jockey wheels (JW) with weld on swivel plate (spw)

Couplings:
The coupling is the vital link that joins the trailer to the towing vehicle. To select a suitable coupling, please consider:
- What type of brakes are being used?
- What is the maximum total loaded weight of the trailer?
- Can I use a 50mm ball or do i need a ring type attachment
- is there a need for a specific application? for example - anti sway, off-road, commercial?
Couplings come in groups based on their planned usage: Fixed Couplings; override or under-run brake couplings; sway control; ring type; and off-road couplings.

Springs and Spring Sets
To make selection of your spring set easy and to ensure you receive exactly what you need, the selection of the combination of parts to provide you with a complete spring set is made up of three parts:
- Select the spring type and size best suited for your application.
- Select the "hanger kit" that suits the springs, where these are not included.
-
Select the "ubolt kit" that matches the spring and axle combination.
